Job description

As our Public Affairs and Engagement Officer, you’ll play a key role in managing and maintaining our relationships with the government and across the health and care sector, helping to meet the ambitions set out by our Council via our corporate strategy. We are looking for someone who is experienced in working with external stakeholders and senior leaders with an ability to juggle multiple projects at once.

Your role

 As a Public Affairs and Engagement Officer your responsibilities will include:

 

*        Maintaining the HCPC’s political monitoring function

*        Identifying opportunities to raise HCPC’s profile through proactive engagement with stakeholders, events, and thought leadership initiatives

*        Undertaking research and prepare high-quality briefing materials and correspondence

*        Representing the HCPC at external forums and events, acting as a credible ambassador for the organisation

*        Maintaining a broad understanding of relevant policy, governmental and societal developments, understanding the implications for HCPC

*        Assisting in stakeholder management, following the approach laid out in the stakeholder engagement plan

*        Assisting in the implementation of public affairs strategies to support the HCPC’s organisational objectives and enhance its reputation amongst policymakers, stakeholders and influencers

 

What we're looking for

 We are seeking someone who has:

 

*        Experience of managing effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders

*        Experience of working with senior leaders

*        Experience of managing multiple competing projects, including managing departmental workload

*        Experience of acting as a credible ambassador for an organisation or individual

*        Proven influencing and negotiation skills

*        Experience of undertaking research and analysis

*        Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to draft briefings and letters

*        Excellent interpersonal skills, high a high level of tact, diplomacy and political awareness

*        Excellent organisational skills, and an ability to learn new systems and processes and carry them out effectively

*        An understanding of the health and care sector and its regulatory environment

Location: Hybrid working with a mandatory attendance of 1-2 days a week at our office in London
