Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic Data Governance Lead to join our Insight and Analytics Team at the HCPC. In this role you will have a variety of responsibilities related to Process and Policy Development, Data Quality Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Metadata Management. The mission of the Insight & Analytics Department is to generate evidence to support policy and decision making by applying statistical methods to HCPC data. In doing so it also collaborates with other HCPC departments to improve data quality, standardise reporting datasets and develop shared approaches to analysis.
As the Data Governance Lead, you will play a crucial role in coordinating the management of metadata, data quality improvement, and stewardship engagement across the organisation. You will be responsible for ensuring data is compliant with our standards and guarantee the accuracy and consistency of metadata. You will be collaborating with a variety of colleagues and stakeholders to uphold data standards and improve understanding.
Main Duties and responsibilities:
* Promote metadata literacy by providing training and guidance on standards, tools, and best practices to stakeholders.
* Ensure metadata consistency and quality by maintaining data dictionaries and validating the accuracy of data across systems and domains.
* Implement and manage data profiling and quality assessments to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business and regulatory standards.
* Maintain a culture of continuous improvement and accountability through regular reviews, metric reporting, and training on data quality principles and tools.
* Assist the data governance group and related boards by preparing the relevant materials to support discussions
* Create a culture of collaboration and understanding to ensure good communication with stakeholders
* Continue to evolve the Data Quality Management Framework for it to reflect changing business needs, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
* Develop and implement governance policies by embedding standards into processes, systems, and training to ensure consistent data handling.
Candidate Requirements
* Educated to graduate level or equivalent skills and knowledge.
* Familiarity with information governance standards (e.g., ISO 8000, ISO/IEC 38505, GDPR) and Strong knowledge of data management principles (e.g., DAMA-DMBOK).
* Experience with data governance tools (e.g., Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Informatica).
* Experience in data profiling and quality measurement using SQL or profiling platforms.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to explain complex issues to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills
